Thank you for such a fine analysis and post with which I enthusiastically agree! For me, it was exciting to see how full the parking lot was and that it translated to what seemed to be a full and eager house from where I sat in Orchestra D. I, too, repeatedly felt less power and depth in the string sound from the orchestra's placement deep in the back area of the stage. I wondered during the performance if the orchestra could project itself enough for the final long climax at the end and was disappointed with feeling a bit underwhelmed with it, even from the standpoint of hearing the brass which carries the main load there. The french horns soli in the beginning was very balanced and beautiful but a bit out of tune at times and I've wondered about that since. Is it hard for french horns to hear themselves or is the issue that a player can't adjust intonation quickly when noticing it is needed? I'll have to ask a horn player friend that just landed a seat in the North Carolina Symphony. The brass section deserved the ovation it received, as did the entire orchestra and production. The audience could hardly have felt more appreciative. I'm delighted to finally have seen one of the Ring operas and yearn for their return on a regular basis.Paul Kreiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05701255625063692625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-276352051689991111.post-52198113954534038762022-01-17T13:26:54.250-08:002022-01-17T13:26:54.250-08:00I was there as well. She told me she studied in Indiana but lived in Vancouver now. I flew in from San Francisco (I lived in Vancouver many years ago). If there is a way to forward her my email address, I would like to make contact with her: lotarygiel@gmail.com
We both cheered for the Canadian pianists in the Competition!
Thanks! The beginnings of oratorio began with Fillipe Neri in Rome who formed a prayer group who sang Lauda as entertainment in between their prayer and discussion of spiritual matters. It became increasingly popular and grew greatly! Pope Gregory XIII recognized the spiritual exercises Neri was doing in his oratory, how popular it became, so he named them "Congregazione dell'Oratorio" and gave them their own church!! The church was first named S Maria Vallicella, which is now called today Chiesa Nuova in Rome (it still stands today!)

-Julianna
juliannaemanski.com Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16886751335938987106noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-276352051689991111.post-83842413894504702602016-04-28T19:57:22.137-07:002016-04-28T19:57:22.137-07:00Hello Patrick, My middle school religion class (G...Hello Patrick, My middle school religion class (Go St. Bernard Bears!) is studying the Council of Trent.
